Certified server centres
Our server centres are certified according to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 18001, ISO 27001, ISO 50001, ISAE 3402 – SOC 1+2 in addition to other classifications. Virus scanners and firewalls check every upload and, if there are any security concerns, will be blocked.
Through our single-tenancy architecture, we create individual workspaces while effectively storing client data separately.
German company and server location
German server centres are subject to German law, ensuring providers have no obligation towards any authority requesting disclosure or access to data (as opposed to US-based providers for example, who are subject to the CLOUD-Act). Even in case of a presumed criminal offence, German authorities only have limited access to your data. However, these conditions only apply to providers with both their company and server location in Germany.

What's the difference to other public cloud providers?
In difference to Dropbox, OneDrive etc. ownCloud.online is not a public cloud but a private cloud and focuses on data privacy and security. What is an ownCloud.online User?
An user is any person or role on your team with a unique email address. Each team member should have his or her own user license. Users can link their ownCloud.online accounts to as many of their devices as they’d like (PCs, phones, tablets, etc.) at no additional charge. To make your data available to external persons you can create guest accounts at no additional charge. Guest users have some limitations to features.
How much space does my team get?
Starting with 5 users your team has a cloud storage of 1TB (1024GB (GigaByte)). With every additional user your storage is extended by 200GB. For customized solutions please contact support@owncloudonline.com.
What is an "ownCloud.online instance"?
An ownCloud.online instance is a dedicated installation with dedicated storage and user space. It is only accessible by you. Other ownCloud.online users have their own dedicated workspace so no cross-cloud access is possible. Some other public cloud providers do aggregate data from different customers to save space which is a big threat to data security and privacy.

How can I cancel my trial or subscription?
To cancel your subscription please send us an email to support@owncloudonline.com. The termination period for monthly subscriptions is 7 days, for yearly subscriptions 30 days. Cancellation of a trial is possible anytime in the evaluation period of 14 days.
Why is my credit card charged with 1€ when I register for a trial account?
With each new registration, our payment service provider checks the validity of your credit card data. During this check, a test amount of 1€ is reserved via your credit card. This will be cancelled immediately and is only used for verification purposes. It does not represent an actual debit.
Test accounts are and remain free of charge.
Is a data backup included?
Yes, your data is backed up internally through multiple backups and can be restored for up to 30 days. Please note that depending on the cause of data loss, recovery costs may apply.

How long is data stored in the Recycle Bin?
By default, all data in the Recycle Bin is irrevocably deleted after 180 days. If other arrangements are necessary in your case due to special requirements, please contact owncloud.online support.
Please note: Data stored in the recycle bin is not backed up and cannot be restored in case of intentional or accidental deletion.
What is the cost of an extraordinary restoration?
